varicose vein treatment
In order to hopefully answer your questions about spider and varicose veins, we want to clear up what exactly these types of veins are and why you might have them. Spider veins are small, visible veins, generally on the face or legs. Varicose veins tend to be found in the legs, pop out through the skin, are red and puffy, and can be very painful. Both spider and varicose veins twist and turn. Spider and varicose veins often occur within women, because these veins are often hormone related. For example, many women begin having vein problems when they become pregnant or when they start using birth control. Spider and varicose veins are also largely hereditary, but occur more frequently in older people. Even if you do have these issues, it may not begin happening until later in life, or until something (such as pregnancy) triggers it.
Why exactly do spider and varicose veins occur? Within each vein, there are valves that help the flow of blood. Because gravity would naturally pull the blood down but blood needs to circulate through the heart to the rest of the body, these valves help blood flow against gravity. However, when pressure builds, the valves can become damaged or broken, which allows blood to flow against the valves. Blood generally only flows in one direction in a vein, so this causes serious problems. This is when the vein contorts and becomes swollen, showing through the skin. You can imagine (or you already know!) how painful and unsightly this can be! Because legs are so far away from the heart, the valves in those veins receive more pressure and break more often. Arms, meanwhile, are much closer to the heart and do not receive as much pressure.
Do not worry if you have spider or varicose veins. You should not be embarrassed, nor should you put up with them for long! We have perfected treatments and techniques that do not involve major surgery—no anesthesia or cutting. Our treatments are covered by most insurances, and we can help people of all ages. Treatments are also only performed by Dr. Bashy, the founder of the clinic and an expert in this field.
The first treatment we provide is Sclerotherapy, which treats spider veins. Sclerotherapy is a very precise procedure in which a very small amount of solution is injected into the veins. This solution closes up the faulty veins, which relieves pressure on the damaged valves and allows blood circulation to improve. This procedure is a simple and quick way to make the visible veins disappear and relieve pain. Sclerotherapy can also remove bulging veins from the backside of hands. This treatment generally requires between two to four visits, but usually provide long-term or permanent results.
Another treatment that we specialize in is the Ultrasound Guided Foam Sclerotherapy (UGFS), which treats varicose veins. This treatment is similar to basic Sclerotherapy in that it is an injection into those damaged veins, but it uses a foam solution which is less diluted and allows the treatment to have a stronger effect on the veins even while using less solution. Because varicose veins are more difficult to treat than spider veins, the higher intensity of this solution and its ability to treat the veins more vigorously…
Another treatment that can fix varicose veins is Endogenous Laser Treatment, which uses lasers instead of injections. This laser treatment is much different than the old method of treating varicose veins, vein stripping, in which problematic veins were surgically removed. The lasers in this treatment close the varicose vein to stop the flow of blood from it, thereby relieving the pressure on the valves and allowing those veins to heal. This treatment is done without surgery, and takes less than an hour. This procedure generally is painless, although it may be accompanied by tenderness and soreness. These discomforts shouldn’t last long.
With each of these treatments, there may be bruising and some discomfort, but these side effects should only last between a few days to a month. Furthermore, these treatments are generally permanent solutions to vein problems. Our clinic is a well-known, safe, and reliable center to come to for vein treatments. After meeting with thousands of patients and treating countless veins, we know that you may be unhappy with the current status of your veins; we want to help you find comfort and satisfaction through our low-risk, simple procedures.
